Lead Hardware Design Engineer

Our client is a leading automation solutions provider and systems integrator. They are looking to hire a Lead Hardware Design Engineer into their team.

Responsibilities
• Ensure that Hardware Design Department is efficiently and effectively deployed on all applicable company projects to meet the required project milestones
• Carry out detailed electrical hardware design, ensuring adherence to all appropriate industry standards and regulations and in accordance with customer specifications
• Complete all design calculations as required on a per project basis, including power, short circuit, volt drop, heat dissipation
• Provide a high-quality service to customers, whilst delivering hardware design drawings in line with the Company's Philosophy & Electrical Design Standard. Including but not limited to Layouts, Schematics, Cable Schedules, BOM's, Labelling, Coordinating the manufacturing, test, despatch of designed items
• Line Management of the Hardware Design Team resource
• Supervision and mentoring of Hardware Design Team
• Quality checking of drawings produced by the Hardware Design Team
• Production of accurate drawings, to include but not limited to, schematic, panel layouts, system architecture and cable schedules for the projects
• Produce drawings which are economical to the needs of the job in hand and are economical in the use of materials and methods of production available
• Ensure design and production standards and processes of the Hardware Design Department are observed and applied
• Continuous development of the Hardware Design Team and platforms used
• Commercial management of Hardware Design Team, hours & planning
• Ensuring team output is delivered in-line with project milestones
• Maintain the Company's reputation as a leading-edge systems integrator
• Coordinate with Manufacturing & Test to provide answers to any questions that arise during the manufacturing process
• Comply with all relevant standards and work to the Company's ISO9001:2008 registered quality procedures
• Develop and manage the technical practice and hardware standards of the Company
• Identify and assess the value and capability of new or additional technologies and communicating these to other teams such as sales, quotation, and system engineers
• Identify, provide and facilitate solutions to the Engineering Department for technical hardware related problems
• Management of the Hardware Design software including but not limited to EPlan, AutoCAD E and Solid Works
• Management of the Hardware Design package(s) renewal licence agreements
• Comply with all Company procedures as defined in various documents including the Quality Manual, Staff Manual and Health & Safety Manual
• Support company activities such as supporting fellow engineers, training, assisting with sales and site support
• To maintain good relationships with customers, suppliers and company staff
• Other duties as required

Knowledge, Skills & Experience
• Qualified to degree level in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
• High level of experience in the detailed design of industrial drive and control systems across a wide range of industrial applications, including working in the system integration sector
• Good working knowledge of variable speed drives, PLCs and SCADA/HMI products
• Ability to work either individually or as part of a team
• Able to manage and document the information required for a successful project
