I have a tattoo. Will I be banned from lots of establishments?

I have a tattoo and it doesn't really affect me on a daily basis. I can't go to hot springs or the public pool, but they're not my thing so I don't feel like I'm losing out on much. And if it's your shoulder, it's always covered anyway during work/the day, right?

They can be very strict. My friend got escorted out of a water park for having and covering up a tattoo, and it was just a name in cursive. But I hear there are more tattoo-friendly baths now because of the upcoming Olympics.
