I'm planning on applying to be a teacher. Will I have to take my piercings out? How do Japanese people view piercings?

I don't have a cartilage piercing but I have two on my lobes and I haven't run into trouble at all. As long as your earrings are conservative in the workplace. Cartilage piercings can be seen as inappropriate or too "edgy" so you don't normally see people wearing them at work. But you might be able to get away with it as a foreigner and as long as it's a small stud and not a ring when you're teaching.

Some workplaces are strict. You might be asked to take your helix piercing out for work.
