Another "Mother" I Met in Kumamoto
Jerose and Jecel from Mindanao work as cleaning staff in a large hospital in
Kumamoto. They came to Japan to earn a living to support their families and to
fulfill their own dreams. They were not thinking of coming to Japan to enjoy
their lives.
However, their boss at the hospital brought them out to have fun, saying
"You should enjoy life while young!" Being treated to delicious food,
watching dolphins at the sea, and visiting anime tourism spots, are just some of
the experiences they had.
"My boss at the hospital is like a second mother to me."
"It's so fun with so many places to see. I'm so glad I came to
Kumamoto," they said when we asked about their lives in Kumamoto.

Kumamoto Support Center for Foreign Residents is a government facility that
helps foreign residents resolve their problems. With English language support,
feel free to contact them via phone call or email.
With the steady increase of Filipino residents in Kumamoto, the community has
grown more active. A variety of encounters await you, like playing sports with
fellow Filipinos and cultural exchanges with Japanese and people from other
countries.
"If all you have are workplace connections, a hierarchical relationship
between superiors and subordinates is inevitable. I want to create many places
in Kumamoto where people of various nationalities can interact on an equal
footing."
