LCRA is looking for a Lead Safety Specialist to join our team. This is a leadership position within the Safety Services Group team. As a part of LCRA’s Safety Services Group, you will work with the Water Operations/Water Resources & Community Resources teams to provide continuous improvements in safety through acting as a liaison between leadership, frontline workers, contractors, and our customers. You are an ideal candidate for this role if you can act as a safety leader while possessing the ability to collaborate and build relationships within the utility operating units. You will be trusted to:
• Provides safety consultation and serves as a safety and health resource for LCRA Water & Community Resource Teams.
• Responsible for mentoring and training new Safety Service Group team members
• Assist in the development and in conducting safety orientations, safety training, health training and monthly / quarterly safety meetings, and safety reports.
• Leads safety and health inspections and audits.
• Leads and performs complex incident investigations, including documentation, tracking and reporting; to include large scale incidents.
• Serves as a key contributor to research and implementation of safety policies and procedures.
• Provides health- and safety-related project support through preparing health and safety plans for LCRA projects.
• Reviews and analyzes performance trends and deviations from LCRA safety policies and work practices.
• Prepares reports and makes recommendations regarding safety corrective actions.
• Maintains knowledge of industry standards and regulations.
• Leads and coordinates the review and enhancements of internal safety manuals.
• May coordinate medical monitoring activities and schedule employees for testing.
• Performs work by traveling independently or with other staff to various locations as scheduled.

You qualify with:
• Twelve or more years of experience in industrial safety and/or health programs, utility industry (mechanical and/or electrical), or safety training or compliance or relevant experience.
• Experience must include providing guidance, leadership or formal/informal instruction to staff. - A degree(s) in industrial maintenance, instrumentation, controls, electrical systems, health and safety, education or a relevant field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.
• Driver’s license

You are a great fit with:
• Prior utility experience. (water, wastewater, gas, electric)
• Possession of a recognized safety certification such as CSP, Certified Safety Professional, CUSP, Certified Utility Safety Professional or the ability to obtain within the first 2 years of hire.
• At least 2 years of prior leadership experience within an organization
