The Hong Kong Palace Museum (HKPM) is a dedicated museum that showcases the exquisite artefacts from Palace Museum’s collections and collaborates with other museums in research, exhibitions, education and public programmes. The museum comprises 7 800 square metres of gallery space for standing and special exhibitions on Palace Museum’s collections of paintings, calligraphy, antiquities and historical objects, as well as thematic displays on world cultures and civilisations. (This is a fixed-term contract position of 2-year with possibility for renewal subject to organisational needs and individual performance.) You will be responsible for: managing a wide range of curatorial research work on Chinese and world art for exhibition preparation and other projects at the Hong Kong Palace Museum (HKPM) in support of the curators, associate and assistant curators; supporting acquisitions and HKPM collection related research and documentation projects providing editorial support, translation transcript and proof-reading for public-facing materials such as in-gallery didactics and publications. supporting the operations of the HKPM staff research library when required; coordinating projects in the curatorial affairs Section, such as arranging meetings and taking meeting notes in relation to the above-mentioned projects, when required; and performing other duties as assigned by supervisors when deemed necessary. You should: possess a recognised university degree or above, preferably in library management, Chinese history, fine arts, art education, cultural studies or equivalent; have at least 1 year of working experience in research project implementation, management and coordination, preferably in museums, universities, libraries, or other cultural or educational institutions; possess strong research skills and interest in Chinese art, cultural and history ; have excellent writing, translation, proofreading skills, and proficiency in Chinese and English, and Word, PowerPoint, Excel software; and be self-motivated and able to work independently, highly-organised, detail-oriented, patient and with good communication skills.
