The Hong Kong Palace Museum (HKPM) is a dedicated museum that showcases the exquisite artefacts from Palace Museum’s collections and collaborates with other museums in research, exhibitions, education and public programmes. The museum comprises 7 800 square metres of gallery space for standing and special exhibitions on Palace Museum’s collections of paintings, calligraphy, antiquities and historical objects, as well as thematic displays on world cultures and civilisations. You will be responsible for: handling research, procurement and rights clearances of images, such as handling image requests to Palace Museum, and other external parties for publication, exhibition, marketing, educational and other projects when necessary; handling image licensing requests from external parties related to the use of images related to the Museum; managing the Museum’s growing digital asset and collaborating with the Museum’s Collection Managers and Photographer to manage images in the database for the Museum’s collection and loans, staff, events, and facilities; assisting to build project budgets and monitor expenditures related to digital asset management; developing guidelines, including those related to image management and rights clearance procedures, following Hong Kong Intellectual Property legislation and appropriate regulations if applicable; providing advice, training and trouble shoot in a timely fashion for the teams; developing good collaborative relationship with teams within the Museum and counterparts at the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority including Innovation Technology Department, Communications and Public Affairs, Marketing and Customer Experience Department, and external service providers and users; and performing other duties as assigned by supervisor when deemed necessary. You should: possess a recognised university degree or equivalent in design, visual art, art history, museum studies, visual communication or related disciplines; have around 6 years of relevant experience in digital asset management, publishing, rights and reproduction, copyright, design, imaging, database or web management, or other relevant areas. Work experience in or with, museums or other art and cultural organisations is a plus; have proven ability to work on in print and online publication projects in the art, cultural or other relevant fields, handling a vast amount of images; possess excellent digital imaging process skills and good knowledge about digital asset management and publishing flow for the scholarly audience and the general public, as well as meticulous attention to details and high accuracy; have excellent organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects concurrently; possess proficiency in software, including Digital Asset Management (DAM) System, Collection Management System, The Museum System (TMS), Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft Office; and possess good communication and presentation skills with proficiency in Cantonese and English.
