Job Description

To oversee and direct the activities of the purchasing department.

To develop purchasing strategies and oversee the purchasing team in their daily activities of sourcing suppliers and purchasing products, equipment, and services.

Responsibilities:
• Responsible to drive the purchasing activities of the company within the targeted lead time
• Source for ingredients, goods, machinery, spare parts and services at the best price, quality, delivery and terms from local and oversea suppliers by conforming to technical specifications, company policies, procedures and delivery terms to ensure the materials in the supply chain are available as scheduled.
• Perform purchasing administrative work in accordance to company’s requirements and procedures.
• Forecasting, inventory planning and controlling.
• Liaison with Quality Control Department to ensure the material supplied meet the standard and specification.
• Source for suppliers and maintain listing of suppliers.
• Evaluate (cost and benefit analysis) on all alternative solution provided by suppliers.
• Manage day to day placement of purchase orders and keep record of purchasing requirement.
• Maintain Landed Cost Rules and Tolerance Rules for raw materials.
• Keep track on market prices and to ensure purchase prices are within the market.
• Manage the purchasing and logistics for both local and overseas activities as well as to coordinate with the Plant’s operation on the establishment of the supply channels.
• Ensure corrective actions are put in place in the event of supplier issues to improve on quality standards and resolve any claims if necessary.
• Handle marine insurance claims and the sale of salvaged raw materials and disposal of waste materials and fix assets according to company policy.
• Apply tax exemptions for importation of spare parts and ingredients from MIDA.
• Liaise with government departments, forwarders on clearance of imported raw materials, machinery and spare parts.

Qualifications
• Candidates with Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Procurement, Economics or equivalent preferred.
• Candidates with minimum 5 years of experience in managing administration department in manufacturing environment preferred
