The Senior Legal Director Janssen Be(ne)lux will provide legal counsel to the Janssen Benelux organization, dealing with a complex and broad variety of issues. The Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson are a leader in the development and commercialization of prescription drugs in disease areas such as Haematology, Oncology, Immunology, Virology, Neuroscience and Pulmonary Hypertension.

The Janssen Benelux organization is responsible for the sales and marketing of the Janssen medicines in the Benelux. It consists of a BeLux and a Dutch entity, each with a local Leadership Team ("LT"), supported by Benelux centers of excellence and managed by an overall Benelux Leadership Team. Benelux is the biggest growth driver of Janssen Mids-sized markets ("Janssen MSM") and it is currently a G6 position within EMEA and a G10 position globally within Janssen and Jansen has 1st market position in the Netherlands and Belgium.

There are local and sector specific dynamics that affect the complexity of the legal needs:
• The market access environment is complex and requires negotiations at Ministry of Health level as well as access negotiations at the level of health insurance companies and with hospitals, where legal is closely involved;
• Benelux is used as hotbed for innovation, i.e. a pilot country for new go-to-market models;
• Benelux is a Wave 1 country for new launches and indications;
• The position will require involvement in the external environment (especially via trade associations, etc).

The Senior Legal Director will report into the Senior Legal Director Janssen MSM and will provide counsel on a broad array of topics and to a broad array of groups and departments, in particular:
• Be a member of and provide strategic support to the BeLux LT.
• Provide legal support to all Business Units and Cluster Value Teams ("CVTs")
• Provide legal advice on projects developed by CVTs and functional groups, eg Patient Support Programs, Value Based Health Care, Real World Evidence and digital initiatives.
• Provide legal guidance re: information and publicity as well as advertising disputes
• Regularly interact with the Health Care Compliance ("HCC") dept and provide guidance on HCC contracts and related matters
• In conjunction with others in the Law Department ("LD") provide legal support to functional departments, such as Market Access, Medical, Regulatory, Quality, PV.
• In conjunction with the LD and other legal colleagues in Beerse provide legal support to the Benelux Campus & Alliance Management.
• Participate actively in external environment/policy related work, inter alia by participating in Trade Association meetings.
• Draft, review and negotiate all relevant contracts, especially confidentiality, promotion, consulting, sales, service and supply agreements and assess such for legal, business and ethical risk.
• Provides advice on labor relations, employee contracts (in cooperation with Employment/Labor relation group), including tax matters.
• Provide regular legal trainings, counsel clients and keep them up to date on new or amended laws and regulations
• Take responsibility for corporate housekeeping, together with relevant colleagues in the department and ensure that all standard operating procedures are current, accurate and complete and are being audited as per local regulations.
• Develops appropriate legal policies, procedures and guidelines
• Provide counsel on privacy related matters.

The position is based in Belgium. While the main focus of the role is on BeLux, the Senior Legal Director may also be asked to advice on matters across the Benelux. He/she will be part of a team of J&J lawyers in EMEA. The position will require frequent on-site presence in the Beerse offices of Janssen Benelux and some travel abroad.Education
• Essential - Belgian Law degree, obtained with excellent results, supplementary degree or LLM abroad considered an asset

Experience
• Minimum 12 years of experience in legal work.
• A successful candidate will have relevant experience in the healthcare industry (preferably pharmaceutical products) and will have gained experience of working in a dynamic, complex and challenging international environment, either through an international law firm and/or a legal department of an international corporation.
