Heavy Duty Vehicle Mechanic

Position Overview: Parsons is recruiting for a Heavy-Duty Mechanic for shop and field work at the Faro Mine Complex in the Yukon Territory. The work schedule will be 12-hour dayshift on a rotational schedule (2-2 or 3-3) or residential in Faro. The successful applicant will be responsible for continued maintenance of all heavy-duty mobile equipment at site.

Principal duties include:
• Perform daily repairs on all heavy-duty mobile equipment including skid steers, excavators, loaders, graders, heavy trucks, tandems, triaxles, half tons
• Service attachments and working tools such as blades, ploughs, winches, side booms and masts
• Ensure all equipment is continually maintained efficiently and effectively, at the highest standards
• Inspect equipment for proper performance and detect faults / malfunctions to determine the extent of any repair that is required
• Perform preventative, planned, and unplanned maintenance, repair, overhaul, troubleshoot, and test mechanical and electronic equipment
• Conduct performance and quality inspections according to procedure
• Resolve work problems and recommend work measures to improve productivity
• Maintain records in accordance with company policies
• Promote safety awareness – ensure no harm to people, environment, assets or reputation
• Conduct business professionally, ethically and practically
• Other duties assigned by the Maintenance Superintendent or Planner as required.

The successful applicants will ideally have the following qualifications:
• Red Seal or Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic Technician Certification
• Automotive Mechanical and Journeyman certification would be considered an asset
• Valid driver’s class 5 driver’s license minimum (air brakes, class 3 or 1 would be considered an additional benefit)
• +5 years’ experience as a Heavy-Duty Mechanic
• Extensive knowledge of Diesel engines and Trailers
• Must have knowledge on DPF Systems, Electrical Systems, Air Systems, Fuel Systems & Brake Systems
• Complete understanding of Electrical and Hydraulic diagrams
• Previous experience with CAT surface earthmoving equipment
