We have an exciting opportunity for a Therapies Supervisor to join our team at Western State Hospital to promote recovery and well-being in partnership with the people we serve

In this role, you will lead the Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity (NGRI) rehabilitation team in the Treatment and Recovery Center at the Gage Center of Forensic Excellence. You will supervise staff who work with a caseload of patients who are not currently attending active treatment in support of the department's mission to Transform Lives!

Some Of What You’ll Do
• Oversee the daily operations of the NGRI Treatment and Recovery Center
• Ensure that staff develop activities and engage patients
• Oversee program improvements
• Facilitate regular meetings with rehabilitation staff and ward staff as needed
• Coordinate group coverage
• Assist in hiring, training, and development of staff
• Audit staff progress notes and provide them with clinical feedback

What We’re Looking For
• Effective communication skills
• Group facilitation skills
• Knowledge of psychiatric symptoms
• Strong group therapy skills and experience treating individuals living with chronic, severe mental illness
• Strong behavioral orientation and ability to use cognitive-behavioral approaches or ability and willingness to learn
• Ability to lead a team toward a defined mission or goal
• Strong relationship building skills

Who Should Apply

Professionals with a bachelor’s degree involving major study in occupational therapy, physical therapy, hospital recreation, manual arts, vocational counseling, or psychiatric social work and 5 years of experience in a therapy program, including 2 years in administration and direction of professional staff.

(Professionals with a master's degree in the areas listed above will substitute for 2 years of non-administrative experience).

Must possess a professional license in the field of study or be registered as an Agency Affiliate Counselor with the State of Washington. Occupational Therapists must possess registration with the National Registry of Occupational Therapy; physical therapy majors must possess a certificate of registration issued upon the recommendation of the Washington State Examining Committee of Physical Therapists.
