At UNICEF COLOMBIA we work to generate positive changes in the lives of children and adolescents. Our current work plan runs from 2021 to the end of 2024 and aims to ensure that children and adolescents enjoy their rights through equitable access to social services, improve their learning and live protected from all types of violence.

We work throughout Colombia, with special focus on the departments where children have fewer opportunities: Chocó, Cauca, Nariño, Antioquia, Córdoba, Amazonas, Putumayo, La Guajira, Caquetá, Atlántico, Arauca and Norte de Santander.

• *Purpose of the Position**

Under the supervision of the WASH Officer, the Programme Associate WASH supports the development, preparation, coordination, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the WASH programme, specifically focusing on the WASH in Institutions and Vulnerable Communities, undertaking relevant advocacy activities to advance WASH agenda and ensuring effective and timely delivery.

The Programme Associate WASH will work in close collaboration with a range of staff in the CO, external partners and agency counterparts in support of programme design and delivery. S/He provides regular feedback on the status of projects through monitoring milestones, identifying gaps in the provision of services and advising on improvements to keep activities on track in Bogotá and territories where UNICEF is present.
• *To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…**

- Completion of secondary education is required, preferably supplemented by technical or university courses (in Social Sciences, Economic Sciences, Engineering, Public Health, Environment, or other relevant technical field to the description of the assignment.
- A minimum of **6 years** of progressive work experience in Water, Sanitation and Hygene related matters.
- Experience in the implementation of tools for participation and development of community projects in WASH.
- Experience in the implementation and monitoring of WASH actions, including assessments, evidence generation and programme delivery.
- Experience in coordination of sectoral groups and political dialogue with authorities of WASH.
- Previous experience effectively working with government and partner organizations in Colombia is an asset.
- Prior experience in programme support functions is an asset.
- **Humanitarian:** Background/familiarity with Emergency preparedness and response, and/or working with vulnerable communities is an asset.
- Relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset.
- Ability to be flexible and hard-working, both independently and in a team environment, in a high pressure on-call environment with changing priorities.
- Knowledge of computer systems and applications e.g. MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with the ability to analyse data to inform decision making.
- Good level of English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language or local language of the duty station is considered as an asset.
