Position Summary:

DACS is seeking an Estimator to prepare estimates and create effective proposals for upcoming dirt projects. This person will build and maintain strategic relationships with vendors, suppliers and subcontractors while also collaborating with internal departments to provide services and solutions.

Duties/Responsibilities:

· Create and manage all information needed for estimates and details of costs for projects

· Facilitate bids, takeoffs, pricing, and proposals for dirt services

· Document estimating and pre-construction work and communicate with project team

· Ensure scope of work is understood and executed by team

· Source and evaluate new vendors, sub-contractors and suppliers and maintain contact records

· Create and manage project files and update online project management systems

· Accurately estimate complete quantity takeoffs and dirt services

· Create and manage drawings, specifications, sub-contractor, and vendor data

· Analyze changes to the products and services provided

· Identify and communicate areas for process improvement

· Conduct research to obtain data on labor costs, materials, production times etc.

· Obtain and review offers and quotes by subcontractors or vendors

· Monitor costs of a project to stay within estimated costs

· Determining key variables for cost and other estimates

· Perform risk analysis

· Build relationships with key vendors (subcontractors, suppliers, engineers etc.)

· Collaborate with accounting to provide financial information, budgets and standardize costs

Experience:

· Minimum 3 years’ experience in estimating/pre-construction

· Bachelor's degree in construction or related field preferred, but not necessary

· Experience and knowledge of construction industry practices, materials and methods involved and the purchasing of services and suppliers

· Must be proficient with computers including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, etc.

· Must be proficient in internet search techniques and online research

· Strong writing & communication skills

· Detail oriented and organized

· Ability to read and understand, building plans, scopes of work, specifications, and other construction documents

· Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time

· Ability to work independently or as a member of a team

· Creative and Innovative - must be a "think out-of-the-box" problem solver

Total Compensation:
