Position description:
The Department of Music at Cal Poly Pomona seeks an Assistant Professor in Music Education to help grow the new Bachelor of Music Degree’s Pedagogy (Pre-Credential) Option. Supervise music credential candidates in their Clinical Practice (student teaching) and collaborate with the Single Subject Credential program. Minimum requirements include:
Doctorate in Music Education (DMA or PhD) or closely related degree(Degree must be conferred by start of appointment)
A commitment and a record of contributions to student success through applicant’s teaching, scholarship, or service. 3 or more years successful experience teaching music in K-12 Schools
Ability to teach Music Methods courses and collaborate with Single Subject Credential Program
Ongoing or clear plan of scholarly/creative activities
Engagement in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in research, teaching, and service. Preferred/Desired Qualifications:
Holds a single subject credential/license in music
3+ years documented successful experience teaching music in K-12PublicSchools
Area of specialty that complements departmental needs
Successful teaching at university/college level in addition to the K-12 experience
Experience coaching/supervising Clinical Practice (student teaching) in schools
