Overview

The Food Shelf & Front End Associate supports the operations of the Food Shelf, Food Shelf registration, and Reception on a rotating basis. The purpose of this position is to collaborate with staff to provide a supportive and welcoming environment to Food Shelf customers, visitors, donors, and community members, treating all with dignity and respect. This position also supports the Food Shelf Manager to execute all the activities required to oversee a small but busy retail environment for food distribution.

Compensation

This is a full-time position, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday with occasional flexing based on organizational needs. The pay rate is $18-22 per hour depending on experience.

Requirements

Critical to the success of this position are:
• Proven track record of reliability and punctuality.
• Work collaboratively as part of a cross-departmental team as well as the overall Haven team.
• Strong situational awareness to see and assist where support is needed.
• Flexible and adapts easily to constantly changing circumstances.
• Able to interact comfortably with people from a wide range of social, economic, cultural, and religious backgrounds.
• Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
• Must be able to move about to accomplish tasks
• Must be able to be on one’s feet for several hours at a time
• Valid driver’s license. driving record as specified in Vehicle Use Policy (2020).

Qualified applicants will have experience in retail or food management and/or reception. Customer service skills are essential for this position, for working with both our customers and volunteer teams.
