LCRA is looking for a Fossil Control Room Operator to join our team at our TC Ferguson Power Plant in Marble Falls, TX. Qualified candidates should be able to operate power plant control systems, turbine, generator, and auxiliary equipment to produce electric power. Communicates and coordinates work activities with LCRA's Generation Desk (GenDesk) to meet generation demand load requirements. This position utilizes in-depth knowledge of best practices and experience in own discipline to provide and improve services. Takes a new perspective to solve complex
problems. Works independently and receives minimal guidance. Acts as a resource for colleagues with
less experience; may direct the work of other staff members.
You will be trusted to:
• Coordinates operation of the boiler, turbine, generator, and auxiliary equipment to meet the needs of
the system.
• Regulates unit generator output through manual or automatic control.
• Reads and records output of meters and instruments. Maintains logs on unit performance.
• Operate switches, breakers, and combustion controls.
• Monitors operation and status of all unit systems on a continuous basis. Keeps systems within proper
parameters.
• Provides guidance and training for operator trainees.
• Communicates and directs activities of PO1, PO2 or Senior Operator assigned to the unit.
• Performs maintenance on equipment as needed or required by periodic maintenance schedule.
• Performs unit walk downs (makes rounds) to monitor operating equipment when performing plant
operator functions.
• Assists maintenance and instrumentation & controls departments during outages.
• As needed, performs shift supervisory duties.
You qualify with:
• Five or more years of experience in power plant operations or power plant maintenance, including at least one year operating the unit control board with little or no supervision and including at least one unit startup and at least one unit shutdown.
• A degree(s) in power plant operations or relevant field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.
• Successful completion through Level IV of the plant operations curriculum of the Power Plants' Craft Qualification Program substitutes for five years of experience.

• Ability to communicate effectively with team members, supervision / management and external
organizations under normal and emergency conditions
• Ability to understand and follow operating procedures/guidelines, safety and environmental rules and
regulations
• Ability to remain alert to anticipate problems and quickly respond to problems

• Work involves weekends, holidays and non-standard hours
• Work involves a rotating shift schedule

• Works in close proximity to energized high-voltage electrical equipment
• Work involves call-out
• Works in an industrial, electrical substation and plant environment
• Work is confined to a particular work space which requires relief to leave
Physical Demands:
• Work involves frequent finger/hand manipulation in using a keyboard and mouse
• Work involves constant sitting
• Work involves standing and/or walking in inspecting power plant equipment less than 20% of the time
• Work involves climbing, crawling, crouching or other non-sitting positions in performing power plant
operation duties less than 20% of the time
