LCRA has an exciting opportunity and looking for an Environmental Scientist to join a unique Field Services laboratory team. As part of the LCRA laboratory, the role is suited for someone who enjoys working outdoors collecting environmental samples and conducting environmental monitoring to protect water quality.
The position includes working with internal and external customers to collect surface water, ground water, drinking water, storm water and assisting in performing biological assessments by identifying aquatic invertebrate, fish, algae, and other aquatic vegetation. The individual will be working in a small team environment primarily working on tasks/projects that support the laboratory’s vision. This role is an integral part of the laboratory operations and LCRA’s mission “To enhance the quality of life of the Texans we serve through water stewardship, energy, and community service.”
You will be trusted to:
• Knowledge of water sampling techniques
• Knowledge of multiparameter probes
• Knowledge of freshwater fish and benthic macroinvertebrate identification
• Knowledge of chain-of-custody procedures, sample preservation and laboratory safety.
• Experience in boat trailering and operation
You qualify with:
• Sixteen or more college semester credit hours in biology or chemistry and four or more years of experience in environmental sampling and monitoring.
• An Associate's or Bachelor's degree(s) in chemistry, biology, microbiology, environmental science, physical sciences or engineering may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.
• A Master's or Doctoral degree(s) in the above disciplines may each be substituted for one year of experience.
• Driver's license
