The University of Virginia's Department of Student Health and Wellness, Medical Services Clinic is currently seeking a Nursing Supervisor to oversee activities of nursing personnel. The Nursing Supervisor verifies that patients' needs are met, evaluate unit nursing care and performance, participate in planning work of assigned units, and coordinate activities with other patient care units and related departments. They are also responsible for planning and organizing training for unit staff members, and participate in guidance and educational programs. They supervise other nursing professionals, and work is done with minimal oversight.

Responsibilities include:
• Provide leadership to nursing staff, and guide and participate in quality improvement initiatives, budgeting, scheduling, and peer review.
• Manage staff performance, including annual evaluations, goal setting, continual performance development, 'crucial conversations,' corrective action and disciplinary processes, and termination.
• Provide staff education and performance management. Develop and implement appropriate plans for each employee.
• Interact with patients and their relatives to provide instruction, promote participation in patient care, and coordinate nursing activities with family plans.
• Oversee the care and maintenance of inventory, equipment, and supplies.
• In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

The selected candidate will pass a background check and health and drug screen.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing, Bachelor's of Science degree
Experience: At least five years of clinical nursing experience and at least three years of supervisory experience. Expertise in outpatient, emergency room and college health nursing is typical.
Licensure: Registered Nursing license and CPR certification.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
