Job Title: Youth Director at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Port St. Lucie, FL.
Brief Description: St. Andrew Lutheran Church is seeking a part-time Youth Director who will build strong relationships with youth, parents, and the church community. The Youth Director is responsible for planning, coordination, operation, and evaluation of our Youth Ministry within a Christian environment. This includes planning and implementing group activities that will include:
· Plan a calendar of youth events.
· Reach out to youth in our church community and in the wider community.
· Accompany youth to camps, youth gatherings, seminars, and so forth.
· Co-lead the confirmation program with the Senior Pastor.
· Lead youth to attend summer bible camp.
Hours: 25 hours each week
Compensation: $30,000 annual
Eligible for an employer-provided Simple IRA with employer match
Job Description
Principal Function:
The Youth Director is responsible to the Senior Pastor for assisting church ministry organizations to develop a comprehensive educational ministry for youth in grades 6-12.
Responsibilities
1. Give guidance and coordination through enlistment, education, and motivation of the key leadership of youth work.
2. Advise in the use of ministry materials, equipment, supplies, and space for youth groups in all church ministry organizations.
3. Maintain an active ministry of personal witnessing and ministry.
4. Promote a regular ministry of outreach for the youth division in cooperation with the Church's plan of outreach.
5. Provide appropriate activities for special projects; cooperate with the music ministry in providing music activities related to youth; plan and conduct special projects (such as camps and retreats) for youth ministry organization groups.
6. Provide appropriate activities and training for parents of youth.
7. Work with the library volunteers in providing resource materials for youth and youth workers.
8. Prepare an annual budget for the needs of the youth division for recommendation to the Finance Committee; administer the approved budget according to policy.
9. Keep informed on the latest materials and methods related to youth work.
10. Perform other duties as requested by the Senior Pastor.
Required Skills/Abilities
1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills including highly-developed teaching skills with youth.
2. Excellent interpersonal skills with members of the congregation, leadership, employees, volunteers, youth, and the community.
3. Deep belief and understanding of the Bible.
4. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
5. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
7. Strong supervisory skills with youth.
8. Willing to submit to a background check.
9. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience
1. Strong background in Christian religious education as it relates to youth.
2. A Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field or equivalent is preferred. May be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program.
3. One to three years of experience with youth in a Christian church is preferred.
Physical Requirements
1. Prolonged periods attending meetings and working with others.
2. Prolonged periods of teaching.
