As a Principal Network Engineer you will serve as a primary subject matter expert and will serve as the “go-to” for the extended team of network engineers. You will design, install, configure, and maintain highly complex network systems that involve multiple technical environments and disciplines. Additionally, you will lead the technical building, testing, implementation, and support of the network infrastructure across the organization. As part of your day-to-day work, you will be responsible for the maintenance of network disaster recovery plans, monitor network performance, and make recommendations for network improvements and ensuring performance meets both present and future needs. Also, in your role, you will coach junior network engineers and indirectly lead day-to day network tasks and activities and ensure successful execution.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the enterprise network workflow.
• Lead the design and implementation of the network infrastructure, serve as the final escalation point for support issues associated with the network, and manage network updates / changes / and associated communications.
• Identify, prioritize, and resolve critical network related issues that impact operations and provide perspective and recommendations for network operations.
• Communicate solutions to network related issues and preferred emerging technologies that can be used to improve the overall health of the network infrastructure.
• Lead technical teams and take responsibility to ensure that hardware and software infrastructure is maintained with latest firmware and software requirements.
• Manage basic and expedited support to resolve all networking related issues.
• Troubleshoot and resolve all expedited issues impacting the customers’ challenges and needs.
Key Knowledge:
• Deep knowledge of Open Systems Interconnection Model (OSI).
• Expert knowledge of Directory Services (e.g., Windows 2000+ AD, LDAP, etc.) and Internet Protocols (e.g., DNS, HTTP, SMTP, SSL, etc.)
• Deep knowledge of firewall configuration and management, network technologies and platforms, and various network types (e.g., LAN, WAN, and WLAN).
• Expert knowledge of hardware integration into networks, including routers, switches, power systems, and cables.
• Deep knowledge of Ci/CD, agile methodologies, DevOps, etc.
• Expert ability to proactively identify, communicate, prioritize, and solve complex problems and recommend solutions for improving network health and overall effectiveness.
• Proven ability to establish and enforce policies that deliver upon a secure network system.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience preferred.
• 6+ years’ relevant experience in Systems Administration, Networking, DBA, design and support or similar experience.
• 4+ years’ hands-on experience with a broad variety of networking equipment.
• Experience leading teams in an agile environment.
• Advanced knowledge of industry leading practices in information technology infrastructure, engineering, and end-user computing
