Program Overview

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) funded the five-year Feed the Future Promoting Market Systems, Innovation and Resilience (PREMIER) activity in Mozambique. The PREMIER activity will facilitate the development of an inclusive, resilient, and sustainable market system to boost agriculture-led economic growth in the Nacala corridor of northern Mozambique. The activity will use a market systems approach and will create opportunities for vulnerable, women and youth in the agricultural sector to increase income and engage in business activities. PREMIER will do so by:
• Enhancing access to finance across sectors for the rural poor and SMEs
• Enhancing risk mitigation management
• Building the capacity of smallholder producers and agribusinesses
• Increasing incomes for smallholder farmers
• Establishing strong and transparent relationships between actors
• Expanding employment and entrepreneurship opportunities, especially for youth and women

Position Overview

The Communications Manager will be responsible for all of PREMIER’s internal and external communication deliverables. The manager will assure timely approvals of external communication and events from the donor. The manager will report directly to the Chief of Party, and is expected to be in regular contact with USAID’s DOC unit and TechnoServe’s corporate communication officers, and will support the entire PREMIER team.

Major Duties And Responsibilities

The main duties of the Communications Manager are to:
• Manage the quarterly and annual reporting processes,
• Produce high-quality and relevant weekly project highlights to USAID, delivered on time,
• Produce visual documentation, mainly photos, which are compliant with donor requirements and are available for public use.
• Provide conceptual analysis to the project staff, and in particular the COP, in developing targeted communication products and materials, including proposing technical ways for writing and editing presentations, speeches, blogs, journal publications, lessons learned documents, and impact reports
• Regularly communicate the project’s activities and impacts to TechnoServe country office and headquarters and stakeholders.
• Implement the project’s marketing and branding Plan and ensure the project’s compliance with the Plan.
• Develop and manage the project’s annual communications and knowledge development planning,
• Coordinate with the CLA Specialist and the MEL Manager to identify and document key lessons learned and result achieved.
• Manage the project’s social media accounts and webpages and initiate and oversee the development of web and social media content.
• Organize the project’s public events and provide support to USAID when requested.
• Lead the dissemination of information and learning to project partners and stakeholders, including supporting the management of communication platforms such as newsletters and project websites
• Manage the relationship with USAID’s DOC department.
• Manage relationships with public media and relevant provincial and district authorities
