About the company

The DEEP CATCH NAMIBIA HOLDINGS GROUP (DCNH) is a division of IMPERIAL MARKET ACCESS, CONSUMER, a wholly owned subsidiary of DP WORLD.

DCNH is a Namibian-based group of companies with subsidiaries and facilities in Windhoek, Walvis Bay, Cape Town, Zimbabwe, Botswana, and Zambia. It provides logistics, trading, and distribution of perishable foods and protein commodities throughout Namibia, South Africa, and ,the neighbouring SADC countries.

The group requires an Environmental Health and Safety Officer based in Windhoek. The incumbent shall be a professional primarily responsible for embracing the group's triple-bottom-line governance by ensuring compliance with environmental safety laws while protecting the environment and employees from potentially harmful business practices. This specialist shall be required to develop and implement health and safety procedures, schedule training, and monitor and report on compliance as determined and directed by group policy.

Key performance areas:
• Evaluate business operations and facilities to identify safety, health, and environmental risks.
• Develop and implement inspection policies and procedures, and a schedule of routine inspections.
• Develop health and safety procedures for all areas of the company.
• Monitor compliance with policies, procedures and applicable legislation
• Review and understand environmental law, stay informed on legislation changes.
• Monitor compliance with safety and environmental legislation and proactively plan for and address with the business units.
• Investigate accidents to determine and address the cause.
• Prepare and schedule training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics.
• Promptly report any aspect of any operation that could negatively impact on the safe working environment, natural environment and/or the public.
• Coordinate submission of EHS data from various departments
• Complete monthly reporting requirements on safety, environmental and sustainability statistics
• Coordinate collection of reporting data from various departments
• Continuously monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), evaluate the effectiveness of efforts and initiatives, and develop and implement changes required for continual improvement.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualification required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety, and Health, or a related field.
• Five years of related experience is preferred.
• Namibian citizen or residency.
• Driver’s license.

• Proficient in technology and equipment used in environmental inspections
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
• Interpersonal skills to explain legislation and procedures to people from all backgrounds and in all positions.
• A meticulous and thorough nature with keen attention to detail.
• An ability to work to tight deadlines.
• Available to work overtime.
• Team player and willing to assist colleagues when required.
• Maturity to handle a range of situations.
• Energetic and dynamic.
• Willingness to travel to visit operational sites.
• Willing and able to accept and handle all the responsibilities of this position.

Physical Requirements:
• Physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections.
