The Associate Director of Clinical Informatics (ADCI), under direction from the Director of Clinical Informatics (DCI), supports the clinical design and implementation of the organization’s electronic health records systems to ensure clinical concepts are successfully translated to technical, clinical specifications and desired outcomes. The ADCI also supports the development of policies procedures and training materials for the electronic health records system reflective of decisions made by clinical leadership while supporting the quality and outcome goals of CommUnityCare. S/he consults with and serves as an interface with care team members and appropriate committees for the purpose of determining clinical data needs and collection methodologies to facilitate quality reporting, quality outcomes, interventions, population disease management, and regulatory compliance. The ADCI time allocation is divided as 0.2 FTE dedicated to the responsibilities above, with remaining FTE engagement allocated to clinical care and/or other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties (at least 5 that are non‐negotiable duties and are absolutely pertinent to successfully completing the job without accommodations):

As a Practicing Clinician:
 Perform comprehensive assessment of patients using observation, inspection, auscultation, palpation and percussion.
 Order or execute various tests, analyses and diagnostic images to provide information on patient’s condition.
 Diagnose and treat diseases, disorders and injuries based on patient’s medical history and results of physical assessment and refer patients to medical specialist or other practitioner for specialized treatment.
 Prescribe medications and therapies for treatment, preventive care, and contraception.
 Instruct patients and their families regarding family planning, procedures performed, plan of care, and follow‐up visits.
 Direct professional and ancillary health care staff during treatment of patients.
 Respond to inquiries from staff and patients regarding preventative health and treatments.
 Compile patient medical data including health history, treatment plans, and results of physical examination, etc. and record in electronic medical record.
 Report required information including deaths and outbreak of contagious diseases to governmental authorities.
 Plan, promote, demonstrate, recommend and coordinate high standards of medical practice.
 Demonstrated expertise in relevant medical practices, protocol, trends and best practices in clinical areas assigned.
 Demonstrated knowledge and success in effecting overall clinical operations.
 Proficiency in the use of a computer, software packages, and office machines.
 Work within the scope of credentialing privileges.

As ADCI:
 Supports the design and implementation of the organization’s electronic health records systems.
 Provides guidance, support, and oversight to ensure clinical concepts are successfully translated to technical and clinical specifications.
 Helps the DCI ensure that all staff members are fully competent with the organization’s electronic capabilities, that information systems are fully integrated wherever possible, that clinical support systems support medical decision making and that there is effective capture of needed clinical information to maximize quality and other measurable performance.
 Consults with and serves as an interface with staff and appropriate committees for the purpose of determining clinical data needs and collection methodologies to facilitate quality reporting, quality outcomes, interventions, population disease management, and regulatory compliance.
 Establishes and implements templates, tools, and best practices for the effective collection of patient data in support and achievement of Board / Executive established quality metrics. Leverages Epic Signal metrics to determine opportunities for both system and care team member improvement relative to established metrics.
 At the direction of DCI, analyzes provider EHR satisfaction data (annual at min) and devise interventions to address deficits. Consider rounding with teams bi‐annually to identify training and functional needs)
 Supports Provider Builder work and interface with EGC/JT for Epic Change requests, as appropriate.
 Contributes to data integrity strategy for key reports and metrics (i.e. partners with analytics to ensure fidelity of data from entry to output, ensure that data collection is consistent amongst teams, and ensure reports accurately reflect clinical practice)
 Prioritize idea requests and tickets for analyst and builder teams.
 Assists in the evaluation and assessment of health care technology to address clinical needs of patients and to support the practice of clinical staff Directs the clinical‐based informatics activities of CommUnityCare and serves as the representative of the organization in matters that involve medical analytic judgment and clinical data integrity.
 Review clinical and scientific literature to update key policy/programmatic positions.
 Other duties as assigned

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
 Demonstrated experience supporting the design and functionality of an organization’s electronic health records system, including the associated successful adoption and usage of the system inclusive of driving clinical outcomes and change by leveraging information derived from the system.
 Demonstrated ability to link electronic health records system success with the systems’ output through results‐driven management and leadership.
 Ability to organize and mentor medical and dental staff around change management strategies to effectively use technology to improve workflows, patient care and clinical outcomes.
 Creative analytical skills for deep investigation, system root cause analysis, and solution development with an eye towards continuous performance improvement.
 Excellent communication skills, with ability to effectively translate complex technology or clinical concepts. Ability to translate practical experiences and realities of medical practice into opportunity and vision for the future
 Outstanding technological and analytical skillset.
 Strategic and critical thinking skillset with the ability to handle multiple priorities
 Excellent spoken and written communication skills and demonstrated expertise in presenting and discussing clinical/scientific information with a broad set of stakeholders/audiences

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

Graduation from an accredited School of Physician Assistants OR Master’s degree from an accredited School of Nursing OR M.D. or D.O. from an accredited educational institution

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

2 years of direct clinical experience. Epic Provider Builder Certification or attainment within 1 year.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE:
 Unrestricted license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of Texas OR unrestricted license to practice Nursing in the State of Texas/current credentialing as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner by the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners OR Unrestricted License to practice medicine in the state of Texas.
 If APP, current certification in area of specialty.
 If MD/DO, Board Certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Pediatrics or passage of Board Certification examination within one year of employment.
 Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration for the purpose of writing prescriptions.

REQUIRED COURSES/COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR) Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from American Red Cross or American Heart
