Job Description
• You will be closely collaborating with the rest of the team to solve complex problems that impact the direction of the broader global business, including advising on risk management, dispute resolution, and intellectual property protection and enforcement issues.
• You will also serve as a key advisor and strategic partner to regional business executives on regarding legal, IP protection, and compliance matters, including providing training and education as well as to strategize on process or policy enhancements, to better protect the company valuable IP.
• This position requires identifying and solving complex problems that impact the direction of a global business. Candidates will be expected to have a solid foundation of IP litigation experience and possess strong matter management skills to lead diverse and complex global projects.
• Candidates should also demonstrate sound legal judgement, a willingness to take on challenging issues, and an ability to quickly learn and grow alongside an increasingly dynamic business environment.
• Manage and conduct offensive and defensive investigations, litigation and pre-litigation matters, while collaborating with our digital forensics team and outside counsel when needed to cost effectively resolve matters. This includes managing all aspects of these matters, including strategy, early case assessment, settlement analysis, budgets, work product, discovery and staffing.
• Serve as a key advisor and strategic partner to regional business executives regarding legal, IP protection, and compliance matters.
The Successful Applicant
• LLB (or equivalent) and admission to the Taiwan National Bar (or equivalent, provided such equivalent permits the candidate to engage in the practice of law in Taiwan)
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in IP litigation at top tier law firm and/or as in-house counsel (preferably at a technology company with global operations)
• Ability to assess risk, engage in early case assessment, and leverage strategies for cost reduction and pre-litigation dispute resolution
• Experience conducting complex investigations and all aspects of litigation, including extensive experience interviewing (or deposing) individuals in both fact finding and oppositional settings
• Ability to work both independently and within a team to manage litigation and conduct investigations, and ability to gain the trust of business stakeholders to achieve a desired objective
• Ability to clearly articulate and visually present complex legal advice for business executives
• Must be fluent in Mandarin and English, additional languages are a plus
