Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer Assignment DescriptionNSB Omega is looking for an Electrical and Instrumentation (E & I) Engineer. This is a temporary position for an approximate 6-month term. This is a position based in St. John's with the Reliability team and will report directly to the Manager – Mechanical, Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering. Reporting to the M, E and I Manager, the E&I Engineer will provide engineering support to the reliability engineering team as outlined in the responsibilities section outline below. The E&I Engineer ensures assigned scope of work are evaluated using a questioning attitude to ensure the work is effectively completed in line with expectation of the task and the M, E & I Manager.REQUIRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:Degree in Engineering and Professional Engineering designation with minimum 5 years related experience in the petro-chemical/ oil and gas businessExperience in electrical safety, power generation/distribution, small power equipment heat trace and electric motorsDemonstrated knowledge of industrial process instrumentation, fire and gas detection equipment, metering systems, safety instrumented systems, hazardous locations and control valvesKnowledge and experience in environmental, safety and loss prevention process and practicesDemonstrated knowledge of risk management processes including risk assessment and risk mitigation planning.Demonstrated knowledge of Project Management, and the ability to lead through influenceDemonstrated knowledge of industry practices, standards, rules and regulationsPlanning, communication (presentation and technical writing), and continuous improvement / engineering skills required to deliver overall valueComputer fluent MS/Office and experience with SAPGENERAL CAPABILITIES:Written communications clarityWork prioritization skillsFamiliarity with East Coast offshore regulatory environment.Computer skills - MS OfficeRESPONSIBILITIESProvide technical support on electrical and instrumentation issues as required including Process Hazard Assessments (PHA)Develop and optimize planned maintenance strategies of electrical & instrumentation equipmentMaintain FPSO electrical and instrumentation discipline documentsProvide technical support and input to project and life of field teams on electrical and instrumentation issues, including project design reviews, technical specifications, and equipment selectionCreate and update material masters for electrical and instrumentation equipment, material and components for the FPSOSteward and develop monthly Safety Critical Element (SCE) reportsResponsible for management of Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS)Support Regulatory Query Form (RQF) development and regulatory queries/observations in cooperation with Operations support groupResolve electrical and instrumentation related Technical Queries (TQs) and develop Change Requests (CRs) as required, ensuring adherence to the Management of Change process Drive continuous improvement in performance and carry out commercial support e.g., contract adherence, scope of work generation, and invoice verificationSupport M, E and I manager in planning, prioritization and execution of work-scopesProvides technical advice, and mentoring to other engineers including students and contractors Provides guidance to Operations / Electrical and instrumentation maintenance personnel as requiredMakes recommendations that affect safety and production on the FPSODurationApproximate 6-month termLocationSt. John's, NLWork schedule will be Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
