Gowan Company is seeking a Cost Accounting Manager to supervise the cost accounting activities, adequate cost process for all products and inventory, and supervise the cost accounting analysts. The Cost Accounting Manager is also responsible for setting up and maintenance of accurate process cost information, participating in the month end close, budgeting process and assisting the Global Manufacturing Financial Director with reporting requirements and day-to-day operations. They will also provide detailed analysis and recommendations related to costing process continues improvement and reporting related to gross margin.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Supervises that all the Standard Cost elements have been logically determined, including bill of materials, production routings, labor and overhead.
• Support the entries and maintenance of the general ledger for by ensuring proper, accurate, and timely recording of transactions in accordance with GAAP and Company policies
• Supervises annual cost roll, conducted at fiscal year-end, assure that inventory valuation is properly booked in the system.
• Determines when the Standard Cost requires adjustments, in order to maintain accurate gross margins.
• Supervises that all the discrepancies between standard and actual costs are adjusted as needed. Supervises the Monitoring of slow-moving inventory and financial impact.
• Support current Internal Control environment to ensure that accounting records are accurate and in compliance with GAAP. Supervises account reconciliations to maintain integrity of general ledger in Cost & Inventory related accounts.
• Reviews financial information and schedules to external auditors during annual financial audit as needed.
• Plan, organize and direct all the activities of the cost accounting function to include transactions affecting inventory and various other costs, Purchase price variances and production variances.
• Responsible for preparation and coordination of Budget reports, future standard cost method and management cost uploads.
• Actively collaborating with IT team, Customer service and supply chain to ensure alignment and accuracy of financial data.
• Identifying areas of inefficiency and leading projects that streamline routine financial reporting and data collection processes. Continuously improve internal processes and enhance reports and partnering with IT to drive for solution/resolution.
• Provide support with quarterly reports as well as coordinates meetings with Supply Chain to ensure awareness of standard variances against Budget.
• Participate in any forecast activity required by financial planning related with Cost Accounting such as (Gross Margin projections, Inventory turns, etc.)
• Responsible for the shared cost accounting email and share point management.
• Partner with IT to support and maintain Master Data Management.

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• Master’s degree (Accountancy or MBA) and/or CPA preferred

Required Skills:
• Proven experience in accounting practices.
• 5 years of cost accounting experience preferably in the manufacturing/produce business.
• 2 years management or supervisory experience.
• Proven Experience in Manufacturing Cost Accounting (Standard Cost preferred).
• Previous experience with Financial Analysis / Reporting, General Ledger, and Trend Analysis.
• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Knowledge of Financial Statements and of the Budgeting.
• Experienced with Microsoft Office programs, especially Microsoft Excel. Advanced knowledge in the use of BI's preferably Cognos Analytics.
• Familiar with electronic accounting systems, preferably JD Edwards Enterprise One. Accuracy and attention to detail
• Problem-solving, conflict management and decision-making skills.
• Self-motivated, flexible, team player
• Tenacity and willingness to investigate and resolve discrepancies Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
• Work in office environment at a desk for extended periods using computer.
• Light filing and Occasional travel.
• Occasional light lift objects may be required.
• Occasional overtime may be required.
