Our opportunity for you:
Vistra British Virgin Islands is currently recruiting for a Legal Counsel
Purpose of the role:
(1) To expand the service offering of the Business Unit by on-boarding a person with the necessary advocacy skills required to pursue non-contentious court applications on behalf of our clients, (2) to assist with the growing portfolio of corporate law assignments within the Business Unit.
Key responsibilities:
• To represent the BU’s clients in non-contentious/ ex-parte court applications before the BVI courts.
• To engage with and advise the BU’s clients on all aspects of law relating to their court applications to include applications relating to grants of probate/ letters of administration
• To assist with marketing the BU’s legal services, including but not limited to court application services.
• To assist with corporate law assignments within the BU as the need arises.
• To assist the Director of Legal Services in the execution of her duties as and when required.

• Most be able to work independently

• Creative problem-solving ability
• Excellent interpersonal and client-facing skills
• Good written and verbal communication
• Confidence and great negotiating skills
• Computer literate
Relevant experience:
• Attorney-at-Law with 4-6 years PQE in a commonwealth jurisdiction and/ or at least three years practice experience practice familiarity of BVI law
• Prior experience practising at the BVI Bar is an asset
Education/Professional Qualifications:
• Bachelors of Law (LL.B.)
• Certificate of Legal Education or equivalent post graduate professional certification form a recognised institution in the British Commonwealth
• Qualification must meet the requirements for admission to practice law in the BVI
