The Intelligent Solutions Group (ISG) of John Deere in Kaiserslautern develops future trends and technologies in the area of mobile agricultural and construction machinery in cooperation with different research centers. In addition, ISG develops and sells products and services in the area of precision farming using global satellite-based navigation systems (GNSS), automated steering systems, machine automation, sensor technologies, telematic system solutions, web applications as well as apps for mobile devices to optimize farming processes and to support decision making.

Product Engineer PhD (m/f/d)

Your Responsibilities:
• You actively design connectivity solutions for the future of road construction, agriculture and forestry technology
• You are responsible for the further development of smart system solutions and for the implementation of impulses for the future use of highly automated machine controls up to autonomous operation
• In an EU-funded collaborative research project in the field of research and use of new communication standards (machine-to-machine, machine-to-infrastructure, etc.), you will take on independent tasks at an early stage and lead them to success
• You represent John Deere responsibly in the international project consortium
• In cooperation with other industry and research partners, you will realize prototype applications with technologies that go beyond the current state of the art
• The nature and scope of the job will provide you with the opportunity to pursue a part-time doctoral degree, and you will be able to tailor your focus to your field of study and interests within the framework set by the project

What Skills You Need:
• Successfully completed degree in electrical engineering, communications engineering, or a similar field that qualifies you to pursue a doctoral degree
• Experience in the field of mobile communication technologies, satellite radio, and IoT, and experience in V2X communications and mesh networks
• Experience in the field of RF signal processing, network architectures and technologies, cloud infrastructure and applications
• Willingness to work scientifically and ability to communicate and work as part of a team
• Interest and enthusiasm for agricultural and road construction machinery
• Very good language skills in English and German, both written and spoken

This tariff position is based in Kaiserslautern and vacant as soon as possible.
