Job Title: Female Personal Assistant/Support Worker

Hours: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday eve and alternate Saturdays and a once/twice weekly sleep-in. ( average 38hr plus nights)

Rates of Pay: £11.10 per hours for day hours, £72 per sleep in shift.

Work Area /Location: Deganwy, Conwy

About the Job:

Would you like to join a lovely team caring for two young ladies in their own home and out and about in the community, including clubs, cinema, theatre etc.

We are looking for one or two personal assistants/support workers to fill a vacancy in our team, with shifts falling on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday eve and alternate Saturdays and a once/twice weekly sleep-in. ( average 38hr plus nights)

We are looking for someone who will be responsible for the best care, attention and well being of two young ladies with varying special needs & disabilities to ensure their best quality of life experience within the community, leading towards greater individual independence.

Responsible to: You will be directly responsible to your employers, the Trust Managers

Main Tasks

To assist as and when and where required with administrating medication, toiletry, shower/wash, dressing/undressing and moving/handling needs thus ensuring that the ladies are well presented at all times.

To assist with the use of a wheel chair when necessary.

To assist with laundry, ironing, making beds & changing bed linen.

Daily/weekly shopping requirements.

Preparation of hot/cold meals and snacks whilst maintaining high standards of kitchen hygiene and taking dietary needs into consideration.

Light domestic duties to ensure that the accommodation is kept in a clean and tidy condition at all times.

To take and pick up the ladies from work/placements/appointments and to accompany to public social areas and meetings with friends.

To be constructive and inspirational in encouraging the young ladies in how best to spend their leisure time in their home and beyond.

Person Specification:

Essential Criteria:

Have knowledge of disability issues and an understanding of the barriers that impact upon people’s lives.

To be patient and supportive and to understand the importance of respecting the dignity and privacy of those in your care.

To be trustworthy, reliable and punctual.

To possess a friendly outgoing personality with a sense of humour.

Have good communication and interpersonal skills and be able to use common sense and initiative.

To have practical culinary skills in cooking etc.

To have a flexible approach to hours of work and duties.

To be willing to undertake associated training as required.

To possess a full driving licence.

Desirable Criteria:

To have experience of working in the care sector

Relevant qualifications such as NVQs

Creative skills

Able to take part in sporting activities such as swimming and bowling.

Special Conditions:

A Disclosure and Barring Service Check (DBS) and two satisfactory references are conditional for the post. This is a free and confidential process.
