Patent Engineer

The individual in position will be responsible for managing the Patents Portfolio, define and implement the strategy to ensure safety and solidity of IP assets, support innovation/development programs and strategic business initiatives regarding IP matters.

The role will be exposed in broadly different contexts, interacting with wide variety of teammates, including Engineering, Legal, Business Development, Sales, Finance etc, so having the opportunity to gain visibility and experience in various fields and strategic business aspects.
As a Patent Engineer, you will be responsible for:
• Defining and implementing Intellectual Property strategy for new inventions & solutions along New Product Developments (NPDs) and Research & Technology programs.
• Screening, assessing and elaborating Invention Disclosures to ensure adequate IP protection through Patents filings, trade secrets etc
• Managing and maintaining Patent Portfolio (i.e. filing, foreign filing, pruning, oppositions, prosecutions)
• Executing IP Landscapes and Patent Watches searches and analysis to enable organic and inorganic business initiatives (i.e. mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures & partnership, licenses etc).
• Performing Freedom to Operate (FTOs) analysis in respect of 3rd Parties IP rights.
Fuel your passion
To be successful in this role you will:
• Have a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
• Have 5+ years of work experience in Engineering or technical roles
• Have experience on Intellectual Property matters (i.e. Patent searches, Patents drafting, portfolio analysis)
• Have Engineering expertise in Process Engineering and/or Electronics.
• Have familiarity with IP fundamentals.
• Have Project management/planning skills
• Be open and broad communication skills
• Show positive attitude in working cross functionally in different contexts
• Be fluent in English and Spanish
