My client a Retailer in CapeTown has an exciting new vacancy for a Product Technology Team Leader:
Textile and Colour Assessment.

Key responsibilities:

1. Ensuring all Product Technology Processes for Product Assessment are implemented, updated and adhered to 2. Product Technology SLAs are implemented, updated and adhered to within the Product Technology Team 3. Co-ordinating in-season processes as per Company guidelines
4. Ensuring effective cross-functional collaboration and alignment with Buying and Sourcing departments for effective execution of Company Strategy
5. Representing Product Technology in Range Review meetings
6. Ensuring effective delivery of Product Assessment execution in line with Merchandise strategy (e.g. implementation of process enablers according to business requirements) 7. To be responsible for all management reporting on portfolio related Product Assessment KPIs
8. Leading & developing the Product Assessment Technology Team by implementing sound people management practices, employee relations and a climate and culture of high performance. Knowledge, Skills and Experience Relevant people skills for supervising and/or managing direct reports Knowledge of Merchandise critical path and business processes (SOPs) Knowledge of Product Technology objectives & strategies Knowledge of SABS, ISO, & EU standards (area specific) Knowledge of AQL requirements/standards.

Supplier base knowledge (capabilities and areas of specialization) Experience in Textile and Colour laboratory management Product knowledge such as textiles, footwear, intimate wear, homeware and necessities, health, beauty, cosmetics, FMCG will be an added advantage Technical knowledge: o A sound understanding of the: ? Clothing, Footwear & Homeware industry (both local and international) ? Consumer Protection Act ? Legislation and processes related to related manufacturing ?

Local and International trends with regards to product design, technology, and substrate o Substrate Theory & Compatibility o Colour Theory & Management o Printing Techniques & Inks A working knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point & Outlook

Experience:

Essential: 3-5 years Product Development (Pattern Making, Sample Room Management, etc.) experience (These could be in outerwear, footwear, lingerie & underwear, sleepwear, homeware or essentials environments) Minimum 3 year previous managerial/supervisory experience with coaching and mentorship responsibilities

Experience working with suppliers to ensure good quality Previous experience in researching and implementing projects Preferred: Exposure to textile and footwear dyeing, printing and finishing processes Exposure to general attachments to specialised manufacturing units Experience in a textile or footwear factory working very closely with the manufacturing side of the business including production floor & engineering department

Qualifications Diploma in Garment/Textile Technology OR Bachelor Degree in Consumer Science (with specialisation in Clothing Management or Textiles), OR Relevant qualification in clothing/footwear management or design, preferably with the following subjects: Garment design Manufacturing technology Garment construction and engineering Pattern making Grading Production Management Textiles (Fibres, Yarns and Substrates) Technical Drawing Computerised Pattern-making and/or Grading Certificate in Fibres, Fabric & Substrates Certificate in Word, Excel or design packages Send CV by the 29 July 2022.
