ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

These jobs are found primarily in WFP Field based Offices, and job holders typically report to Programme Policy Officer or Programme Associate. The reporting lines may change depending on the size of the office.
At this level work is carried out under minimum supervision. Job holders are expected to produce organised and accurate technical work and reports. They may provide guidance on standard practices to other staff and counterparts in their area of work.

JOB PURPOSE

Monitor and Support in the implementation of all Climate Change Adoptive Food Systems activities (SO3) in the assigned district (s) in the Manica province with a focus on efficient production systems, post-harvest loss management, innovative market linkages, access to affordable financial services, integrated climate reduction management, and support to community and medium scale food processors and aggregators.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: First degree in Agricultural sciences, Agricultural economics, Agribusiness, Development studies or other related fields. A master's degree in any of the above fields is an added advantage.
Experience: In-depth technical knowledge on sustainable food systems, e-commerce/commodity exchange platforms, youth in agriculture, agriculture and nutrition value chain, programme co-ordination and projects implementation. A minimum of 1 year of post-graduate professional progressive experience managing programmes related to sustainable food systems, Integrated Climate Reduction Management programmes, Climate Financing, agriculture and nutrition value chains or other related fields.
Language: Fluency in English and Portuguese language is essential. Knowledge of local languages spoken in the Manica (Sena and Ndau) will be an advantage.

DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE

Demonstrate responsibility, proactiveness and initiative to respond and/or act independently to various queries under minimal supervision and general guidance. Ability to think on the spot and use judgment in dealing with unforeseen operational problems daily.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Under the overall supervision of the National Programme Policy officer (SO3 - Manica province) with the technical supervision HOSO - will be expected to perform the following duties:

1. Monitor and provide guidance to the cooperating partners on WFP operational practices, monitoring tools and methods in order to support them to complete self-monitoring tasks and to contribute to the visibility of WFP in the coverage areas.
2. Function as WFP district focal point in meetings with local authorities, partners, and communities.
3. Support capacity strengthening of Small Holder Farmers (SHF), Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), aggregators, and other rural actors to participate in structured markets; and promote market linkages through other platforms and other end buyers.
4. Assist in ensuring active participation of smallholder farmers including women and youths in organized value chains and structured markets to facilitate job creation for the youths.
5. Maintain information records and monitoring plan documentation, such as records of commodity movements and programme checklists, in order to assist in the effective delivery and distribution of food items or non-food items.
6. Liaise with cooperating partners and internal counterparts to gather feedback and comments to support programme reviews and improve services.
7. Receive, collate, and, if necessary, follow-up on comments and feedback from cooperating partners, and beneficiaries, to support identifying programmatic issues with a view to fostering efficient operations.
8. Submit Monthly Work Plans to supervisor as well as a monthly review on completion of this work plan.
9. Submit a Monthly Reports of monitoring activities to supervisor and present this report during Monthly Monitoring Meeting.
10. Provide regular updates on ongoing activities
11. Submit Incident Reports to supervisor as required.
12. During emergencies, follow set emergency response processes and procedures for providing emergency food assistance.
13. Perform other relevant duties as required.

Programme Monitoring and Review Gathers, organizes, and provides data on programme outputs, processes, and outcomes, including distribution plans and the status, quantity, and quality of food and cash distributed and technical assistance provided.
