Necker IslandSir Richard Branson's private island and home, Necker, in the British Virgin Islands, is unquestionably the most idyllic place in the Caribbean. Necker Island is 74 acres, fringed with white sandy beaches and surrounded by turquoise waters and coral reefs. Necker Island is normally hired exclusively for 30- 48 resident guests, with the option to accommodate more, on an all-inclusive basis, perfect for special occasions and events! It can also be shared with others ‘house-party’ style during Celebration Weeks which are held several times each year, when guests can book individual rooms. Accommodation comes in the form of twelve rooms in the Great House, six individual Balinese style cottages and two rooms in Temple House. The property can also be rented for large events and weddings of over 200 people and has a wonderful array of rare wildlife which we are helping to flourish!Guests on Necker are encouraged to view the island as their home. The magic of the experience holding them together and the interaction with an outstanding team remain as the common thread between all these occasions!Moskito Island (your neighbour)Moskito Island is a 125-acre private island, in the beautiful British Virgin Islands, unquestionably the most idyllic community of homeowners in the Caribbean. Surrounded by turquoise waters, coral reefs and fringed by white sandy beaches, the new development consists of 10 exclusive three-acre lots, which have been sold as freehold. Additionally, a communal recreational area has been developed for the homeowners which consists of a Clubhouse with pool, pool bar and kitchen area that serves 3 exclusive dining pavilions plus 2 tennis courts, gym and tennis pavilion, a fully furnished water sports facility and welcome and arrival docks and pavilions for the home owners. These communal areas are occasionally used for functions and gatherings.Here’s what you need to have in your tool kit:Qualifications / Experience5 years minimum working in watersports as an instructor.2 years management experience in watersports/ activities industryProven leadership skills and people management skillsWater sports qualifications: Senior BKSA or IKO kitesurfing Level 2, RYA Senior Dinghy InstructorMust hold RYA power boat level 2 and RYA Safety Boat certificates or equivalent.RYA Powerboat Instructor certificate desirable.RYA Advanced Powerboat or Yachtmaster Offshore certificates desirable.Medical response and First Aid certificationQuality resort / property experienceOther preferable attributes: RYA windsurfing qualification, PADI dive master instructor or any other watersports experience.Behaviours / SkillsA passion for making exceptional holidaysAble to work with and accommodate different culturesStrong instruction and coaching skills to be able to pass onto the teamConfident and assertive in running a teamAble to manage and motivate a team of people to work togetherOrganised and able to manage complex logistical challengesHappy to be hands onHigh sense of responsibility with regard to safety issuesTeam worker and proven customer service skillsExcellent guest contact skills/socially confidentGood communication skillsHigh degree of attention to detailPassion and pride in workAble to perform gracefully under pressureSense of funCalm in emergency situationsResourceful approach – able to troubleshoot in the event of a change of planWhat’s the gig?Here’s what you’d do:Ensure the Necker watersports experience is delivered safely and to an exceptionally high standardMaintain all of the kitEncourage guests to partake in all watersports activities on the island. Lead the activities team on a daily basis, booking guests lessons and excursions, Running daily meetings, working alongside the guests services team to create fun, exciting and bespoke itineraries for guests on island. Assist other departments when necessary in carrying out their tasksCarry out Duty Manager shifts when required The water sports role includes:Day to day guest activities. This will range from teaching lessons, running guest activities to guest excursions.Preparing, setting up and packing down guest areasProving safety cover for guest activitiesMaintaining all Watersports equipment ensuring regular inventory as well as maintenance and safety checks are carried out to ensure that all equipment is kept in excellent conditionReporting any safety concerns to managementAdhering to all activities operating procedures and safety protocolsAdhering to all power boat operating procedures and safety protocolsEnsuring the safety of guests and staff while doing activitiesDriving outboard boatsCleaning boatsCollecting and dropping guest luggage on arrival and departure daysOverseeing all Admin in the department, creating Purchase Orders, ordering stock, keeping inventory, scheduling of the team.
