Early Years Practitioner
17.5 hours per week, 41 weeks per year

£24,641 – £26,429 / £27,086 - £29,039 pro rata (including Distant Islands Allowance)
We are looking for an Early Years Practitioner to join our team in the above Early Learning and Childcare setting.
We would welcome anyone considering applying for any of the above posts as a trainee Early Years Practitioner.
This is an exciting time for Early Learning and Childcare and we are looking for enthusiastic people who would enjoy being part of a team to help deliver flexible, high quality care which meets the needs of children aged 2 to 5 years.
To be appointed at G5:
You should have a good general standard of education, including literacy and numeracy, and a minimum of 2 years' work or volunteering experience involving children.
You are also required to achieve an HNC in Childhood Practice, SVQ Level 3 (SCQF7) Social Services (Children and Young People) or other recognised qualification that enables registration with the SSSC as a Practitioner (Day Care of Children) within 3 years of taking up post.
To be appointed at G6:
You should hold an HNC in Childhood Practice, SVQ Level 3 (SCQF7) Social Services (Children and Young People) or other recognised qualification that enables registration with the SSSC as a Practitioner (Day Care of Children).
You are also required to have at least one year's experience of working with young children in a dedicated Early Learning and Childcare setting (this may be in a training or student role).
For both G5 and G6, you should also be registered with the SSSC as a Practitioner in Day Care of Children, no later than 6 months from commencing in post.
Applicants should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.
This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with children.
