Applications are invited from suitably qualified Malawians, Civil Servants or non-civil servants, as the case may be, depending on the requirements of the post, for the vacancies listed below existing in the Civil Service:

Post: Gemologist (Grade I)
Salary: Within the Grade I salary scale segment
Location: Ministry of Mining
Qualifications
Applicants should be in possession of a Bachelor’s degree in either Earth Science or Gemology, obtained from accredited institutions.
Duties
• Demonstrating knowledge of mining related laws;
• Demonstrating knowledge of equipment used in Gemmological Laboratory;
• Conducting gemstone identification and valuation;
• Collecting and compiling all data related to gemstones;
• Training small scale miners in gemstone identification and valuation;
• Facilitating the procurement of Gemmological Laboratory accessories; and
• Any other duties as may maybe assign from time to time.
Note:
Documentary evidence of major requirements specified in the advertisement shall be required during interviews. Serving officers will also be required to demonstrate during the interviews that they are
permanent and pensionable officers in the Civil Service by producing letters of confirmation in appointment in addition to letters of condition of appointment on probation (PSR 19).
