Malteser International (MI) is the international humanitarian relief agency of the Sovereign Order of Malta. Malteser International (MI) Philippines has been working in close cooperation with the Philippine Association of the Order of Malta since 2009. In addition of providing emergency relief for people affected by natural disasters, the focus of our work lies in rebuilding water, sanitation and hygiene facilities, and in the field of disaster risk reduction. Our regional focus are the provinces of Northern Samar and Benguet located in the Eastern Visayas and the island of Luzon respectively.
In support of the implementation of our activities under the project “Renewable energy access for off-grid communities and households” (REACH), we are looking for a motivated
Social Community Mobilizer (m/f/d) – National Position
As a social community mobilizer , your main responsibility is to mobilize the communities in our target barangays to action in regards to disaster risk reduction management and renewable energy solutions leading to increased empowerment and self-reliance.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assist, support and conduct the implementation of large-scale community-based disaster risk management activities in the 35 target barangays of Northern Samar with the line management
• Organize and facilitate regular trainings, meetings, assemblies and other for the community disaster management committee and village families in disaster preparedness plans, drills etc.
• Work closely with community members to ensure proper, participatory mobilization of Barangay disaster risk management committees, vulnerable groups and service providers and act as a link between beneficiaries/ stakeholders and MI staff to ensure that all information is communicated clearly
• Conduct regular monitoring as per the established monitoring system including the preparation of necessary reports
• Ensure that the feedback and complaint mechanism is in place and followed up in coordination with the line manager and focal person for feedback and complaints
QUALIFICATIONS:
• At least a Bachelor’s Degree in social sciences or a related field
• At least 2 years of proven experience in Disaster Risk Reduction
• Preferably experience with Renewable Energy Solutions, experience in working in a humanitarian aid context and with vulnerable populations
• Good communication and mobilization skills
• Good level of written and spoken English, knowledge of local languages is an asset
• Good Computer skills in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, Excel)
• Preferably resident of Northern Samar or nearest provinces
CONDITIONS:
• Start Date: December 9, 2021
• Duty Station: Catarman/ Northern Samar , with frequent travel in the Province
• Duration of contract: 3 months (pending final donor approval)
• Salary according to qualification and experience: Accident Insurance and mandated government benefits
