Austin Health is the major provider of tertiary health services, health professional education and research across 3 campuses in the northeast of Melbourne and state-wide. Austin Health is world-renowned for its research and specialist work in cancer, liver transplantation, spinal cord injuries, neurology, endocrinology, mental health and rehabilitation.

We are seeking applications from candidates to join our friendly and vibrant team who pride themselves on working within an administrative role supporting the patients and staff of Austin Health. The successful applicant will assist in facilitating the flow of patient information throughout the organisation.

In this role, you will be involved in, but not restricted to:
• Preparation and scanning of patient information and coordination with other clerks to make information available for patient care
• Release of patient information in accordance with our privacy procedures to support patient care external to Austin Health
• Quality checking of scanned information to ensure the high quality of our scanned medical record (SMR)
• Merging of patient records when duplicate Unit Record Numbers occur
• Updating information (patient and record) on various information systems
• Greeting callers and other customers as part of the reception function
• Medical record filing and retrieval
• Sorting of internal mail

Essential Qualities
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Well organised, able to prioritise, plan ahead and work under pressure
• Competent computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook & Patient Administration Systems)
• Previous front line customer service experience
• Experience with medical terminology would be advantageous
