Job Description:

Under general supervision, the Administrative Assistant I provides
all aspects of secretarial/administrative support for research
activities in the Department of Medicine (DoM). This position
provides direct support to the DoM Vice Chair of Research. The
position works directly with physicians and other researchers to
ensure smooth DoM research-related operations

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/Qualifications/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

1. High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associates Degree in
secretarial science, office

administration, business administration or related area preferred,
or two years of relevant related experience required.

2. Minimum of two years of experience in an academic or
research-related office setting.

3. Familiarity with or ability to quickly master the requirements
of research grant applications,

abstracts, manuscript preparation, and editing

4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to
compose own correspondence and

ability to gain the confidence of others.

5. Excellent interpersonal skills so as to work appropriately with
research faculty, administration,

and ancillary personnel.

6. Mastery of accepted general office practices required.
Demonstrates knowledge of protocols

unique to the division within probationary period.

7. Ability to perceive and understand broad objectives and to
organize time and material toward

same. Ability to multitask.

8. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including but not limited
to Word, Excel, and Power

Point.

9. Must be a self-starter.

10. Must demonstrate attention to detail.

Communication And Other Skills:

1. Demonstrates professionalism in all communications at all times.
Possesses excellent.

communication, written, oral and interpersonal skills including
telephone etiquette.

2. Ability to maintain confidentiality.

3. Ability to learn new technology as relevant.

4. Ability to work with a diverse group of faculty, staff,
residents, and students.

5. Ability to be flexible and manage several tasks
simultaneously.

6. Ability to work with minimum supervision.

7. Must have excellent organizational skills, be detailed-oriented
and be able to manage several

tasks at one time.

8. Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with research and grants is strongly preferred,
to include editing and

proofreading skills.

Advanced knowledge of Outlook and Vision preferred.
