Jacobs is seeking a Systems Engineer to provide engineering, technical management and

support on projects requiring highly qualified specialties in support of a prime contract in

our Hanover, MD offices.

• Previous working experience as a Linux administrator/engineer.

• Knowledge of RedHat or CentOS.

• Experience with System integration

• Knowledge of Windows Operating Systems

• Familiar with VMWare concepts.

• Exposure to Shell scripting, vi editor.

• Perform system administration, system monitoring, analyze logs, troubleshooting.

• Evaluate system and service availability.

• Perform system maintenance, including OS and application, patching.

• Awareness of security compliance.

• Team player. Capable of working independently as well as leading a team of junior personnel

as the senior SME.

Responsibilities:

• The Systems Engineer provides experienced architecting system

deployments, engineering analyses, and technical support and may perform some

engineering and technical management functions

• Provides support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of Unix/Linux

systems

• Manages day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution of Linux systems.

Activities include installation and maintenance of operating systems and application

patches

• Integration and management of network services i.e. Network Time Protocol (NTP), Domain Name

System, SSHD, TLS, SNMP

• Installs, configures, and maintains required applications such as McAfee virus scanning

tools, system event logging and auditing, configuration management tools, system

health and monitoring tools, and IAVA compliance patching

• Optimizes system operations and resource utilization, and performs system capacity

analysis and planning along with implementing operating systems enhancements to

improve availability

• Supports the implementation of systems, mission architecture and associated hardware

• Provides recommendations on required hardware and system configurations to improve

overall system performance and security

• Analyzes and resolves complex problems associated with server hardware, applications

and software integration

• Maintain up-to-date documentation of system configuration and operating procedures

• Assists ISSO with SSP documentation

• Provides status updates weekly, after action reports, SOP documentation

• The Systems Engineer provides experienced in architecting system deployments,

• A minimum of 12 years of engineering, analyst or software experience. A Bachelor’s

degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a

related field may be substituted for 4 years of experience.

• DoD 8570 IAT Level II qualification.
