General Description

The Closing Officer is responsible for the closing process of commercial loans which includes but is not limited to: Effective communication between lawyer(s), internal departments and the business unit, handling of risk assessment, insurance and flood policies, request UCC Search & Title Search (if applicable) appraisal department and business unit, review and send complete pocket file to post closing and resolve discrepancies identified by the collateral review department.

Assures compliance with all Bank policies and procedures, as well as all applicable state and federal banking regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide ongoing support to clarify and resolve any questions or situation regarding closing process.
• Understand customer’s needs to ensure the best solution is proposed. Acts with sense of urgency and accuracy for our customers.
• Analyze the case (CAF/CAM Express - Amendment) to proceed with closing process.
• Collect, review and/or refer the required documentation such as: Flood search and policy, Title Search, CRIM, Law 7, Insurances, among others, as applicable.
• Manage the updating of the collateral documentation as applicable. If there are discrepancies related to prior disbursement, it will notify to the approving officer and recommend alternatives to resolve them.
• Coordinate and perform (or complete) the closing process with the Credit Officer, Branch Officer, Lawyers, Loan Documentation Department, Appraisal Unit, Insurance, among others, as applicable.
• Prepare the Exception form to document exceptions recommended by the branch officer and refer to approving officer for analysis and approval.
• Prepares Closing Settlement according to the invoices and sends them to the Relationship Officer for review before closing and process it.
• Consolidate closing documentation and send it to Collateral Perfection Review Group.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related.

Experience
• At least from 1 (one) to 3 (three) years of related experience.
• Experience with Mortgage Documents (CRIM, Insurance, etc) preferrred.

Other Qualifications
• Basic knowledge of commercial, construction, real estate, and consumer loan processing.
• Basic knowledge of real estate and federal loan regulations and other Bank lending policies.
• Knowledge in MS Office 365 programs such as: Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
• Demonstrates flexibility to new challenges, change in priorities, job assignments.
• Set priorities, anticipates challenges and manages time and resources effectively.
• Reacts well under pressure.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision while performing duties.
• Ability to deal with normal problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, customer service and teamwork.
• Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, speak clearly to customers and employees.
