The job itself

We have an exciting Personal Advisor opportunity available in our Children with Disabilities Team, covering East Riding of Yorkshire Council area and sitting within our Strengthening and Supporting Families portfolio.

The Children’s Disability Team support our most complex children, they work in collaboration with specialist services both internally and externally to ensure that we can provide the most appropriate support to children and their families. The right candidate will have access to an excellent training offer, alongside support from the Team Manager, Area Manager and our colleagues within specialist services and Participation Improvement and Innovation.

You will have the opportunity to set the standard in a developing and growing practice system to ensure that we achieve the best outcomes for children, young people and their families. The team are passionate about ensuring the children who they support receive an excellent service, ideally we are looking for somebody with experience of working with children with disabilities, who has understanding of the impact on the child and family.

The base for the team is at Anlaby Children’s Centre and the role consists of hybrid working.

The salary is dependent upon criteria as set out in the employee specification.

The right candidate

We are looking for an energetic, Personal Advisor who can demonstrate tenacity and enthusiasm in making a positive difference to the lives of children and young people.

This opportunity will allow you to work with children that are in the care of the local authority and have disabilities. These children will be in the process of transitioning to adulthood. We strive to ensure families are empowered to achieve lifelong positive goals.

As a Personal Advisor you will have the privilege of walking alongside and supporting young people to make a successful transition to adult life.

The role will undertake the ‘personal advisor’ duties as defined in the Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000 and statutory guidance (Regulations Guidance)

In East Riding we really value positive relationships. Therefore, it is essential that the post holder is able to work relationally with others with a flexible and adaptable approach – always demonstrating their commitment to working to the highest possible standards whilst remaining at all times child centred.You will have good written and oral communication skills which will enable you to prepare clear Pathway Plan’s and progress requests for Direct Payments and care packages

You will be able to demonstrate a high level of motivation and the ability to work independently, with skills in working within timescales and with conflicting priorities.
