Meta Pseudo LabellingSEED is an innovation and applied research hub within EA Worldwide Studios. Our work combines creativity with state-of-the-art technologies.We foster innovation through research, prototypes, exploration, and integration with game teams. Our recent work includes: bringing digital humans and characters to life; use machine learning for game AI and testing; develop novel real-time graphics and physics techniques, and build content creation tools empowered by machine learning. For more information see . BackgroundVideo games consist of many different types of content – 3D models, sounds, animations and many more. Today, most content is created by artists manually. While some of these tasks are creative and inspiring, others can be slow and monotone. Machine learning might help to relieve artists of monotone tasks and give them more time to focus on the interesting parts of their jobs. Additionally, machine learning driven tools might open new opportunities for artists to express their creativity. At SEED we’re looking into new machine learning techniques to make artists’ lives easier. Research problemThis master’s thesis project will focus on meta pseudo labelling – the problem of labelling data without a lot of labeled training data. Game teams usually have a lot of 3D models and other assets, but they are not necessarily stored in a structured, labeled database. To easily find assets however, we require some kind of textual labelling. In this project, you will explore machine learning solutions that can automatically tag assets without a large amount of labeled training data.
The research questions will therefore center around how to design and train a model that can label assets most accurately. About the studentFor this role we are looking for someone in the cross section between game development and machine learning. The ideal student has a formal education in either, and with a strong interest in the other field. The direction of the master thesis can be heavily influenced by the student if desired. Project informationYou will work with one of the few teams in the world that makes research within the field of AAA gaming. You are expected to be able to work independently but will receive guidance support and access to world class gaming knowledge, computational resources and data.
