Overview

The Division of Neonatology in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of South Alabama is seeking a full-time academic BC neonatologist at assistant level to join a team of 8 neonatologists and 23 nurse practitioners. The team covers a level-3 NICU (average daily census of 75) which offers all pediatric subspecialties including surgeries (no cardiac surgery, no ECMO), and 3 other level-1 nurseries. Neonatologists perform daily rounds with NNPs and supervise and teach residents in pediatrics, med-pediatrics and family practice. Neonatology coverage includes No in-house calls.

The NICU in Mobile Al is proud about its outcome of the periviable preterm infants within the Vermont Oxford Network. Plenty of opportunities in research and quality improvement projects are available for faculty development. Neonatology team works closely with obstetrics in counseling and following the care of mothers with complex fetal anomalies and mothers in drug rehabilitation programs through birth. Bench Research projects are available in collaboration with the South Alabama University Center for Lung Biology a nationally recognized as a leading center for pulmonary Hypertension and Oxidant injury.
