Job Summary : The Disease Surveillance Officer will provideleadership and oversight for all Notifiable diseases on the region.

He / she willbe responsible for monitoring and providing technical guidance on themanagement of Notifiable disease in the region.

The region experiencesoutbreaks of notifiable diseases like Malaria, Measles, Ebola, Rift ValleyFever among others. Key Duties and Responsibilities : · Designstrategies that will ensure a robust surveillance system both at the healthfacilities and the communities within the south western region.
• Monitoringall Notifiable diseases on a weekly basis and provide feedback and technicalsupport to the district teams, health workers and the MOH.
• Providetechnical support and build capacity of the program team, district and siteteams on the prevention and management of the notifiable diseases as per MOHguidance.
• Providetechnical support and build capacity of the CSOs / CBOs and other partners incommunity surveillance systems.· Providetechnical guidance during the development of annual work plan and participatesin the planning and budgeting activities, especially in regard to notifiablediseases.
• Coordinatetechnical reporting according to defined reporting schedule and write regularmonitoring and technical reports as required by EGPAF and the donor.
• Assistin identifying, documenting, disseminating and scaling up best practices onnotifiable diseases. Qualifications, Skills and Experience : · Theideal candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery,laboratory, Public Health or any other related field.
• Amaster’s degree in Public Health or related field is an added advantage.· Aminimum of three years’ experience working with similar projects· Knowledgeof decentralized health system.
• Self-drivenand motivated employee· Goodreport writing skills· Monitoringand evaluation of projects.· Basicknowledge of research data collection methods
