Morris Midwest-MN provides CNC machine tools, tooling and accessories, and related engineering and installation and maintenance support services to manufacturers of precision machined parts to manufacturers in Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, and South Dakota

We are currently seeking an ambitious and detailed Manufacturing Applications Engineer with a background in CNC Machinery. This role will provide new opportunities to work for a multidimensional company in a fast-paced, innovative industry. Morris Midwest is a division of Morris Group, Inc., one of the largest machine tool distribution networks in North America.

Job Responsibilities

As an Applications Engineer, you will use your skills to coordinate, plan, design, and install machinery or equipment in an industrial environment using innovative instruments, sophisticated computer systems and knowledge of programming and engineering. Other duties include, but are not limited to:
• Encourage and mentor team
• Running turnkey projects, demonstrations, and other customer related projects to ensure they are completed on time and within budget
• Conducting pre-sale activities and reviews including customer visits, evaluation of opportunities, machine assessment and recommendations, part processing recommendations and development of turnkey proposals
• Making accurate cost estimates, time studies, writing engineering reports, and interpreting plans and specifications
• Developing/ implementing custom demonstrations and training customers in the safe set up and operation of CNC machining centers, lathes, grinders, Swiss style lathes and/ or multi-tasking machines
• Possessing and maintaining an in-depth knowledge of machine tool industry and product lines represented by the company
• Provide technical support to existing customers
• Documentation for engineering systems
• Customer part programs and training.

Job Qualifications/Competencies
• 2-year Technical Degree in Manufacturing Technology (Preferred)
• 3+ years of Machine Programming and Set-Up Experience (Okuma/Tsugami Experience Preferred)
• Fanuc Control Experience
• Mitsubishi Control Experience
• CAM Programming Experience
• G&M Code Programming Experience
• Tolerance for travel and overnight stays (Home/Customer Sites -> 80/20 split)
• Desire to be trained into other machines beyond our flagship lines, Okuma & Tsugami.
