Job Summary

The moderator is a critical member of the educational process for the MSMS program by directly interacting with students during in-class sessions, facilitating the problem-based learning environment, ensuring adequate function of classroom equipment, and providing support, and a liaison to the program director, for student performance and concerns

Responsibilities
• Participate in all MSMS in-class sessions. Facilitate the “flipped classroom” (problem-based learning) environment by stimulating class discussion and participation. Enhance understanding of material through educational opportunities during in-class sessions.
• Provide set-up for technical hardware for all in-class sessions and troubleshoot technical difficulties. Utilize hardware to facilitate communication between students and professor during in-class sessions via accessing hardware microphone or using the “Zoom meeting chat” function.
• Assist students with technical software required for in-class sessions and troubleshoot issues (I-clicker; Complete Anatomy; Canvas LMS; Moodle LMS; Examplify). Obtain software subscriptions for new students and coordinate with administration to connect subscription cost with student fees.
• Proctor all exams. Support students during exams by assisting with Examplify installation and issues. Communicate and troubleshoot exam administration issues with Tiber/Ponce Health Sciences University staff.
• Organize and facilitate all small group discussions and labs according to professor instructions.
• Provide professional, emotional, and spiritual support to students during rigorous academic environment. Act as a liaison between students and program director, professors, teaching assistants, and administration, at Bethel University and Tiber/Ponce Health Sciences University. Alert faculty and staff about student issues as soon as they are identified, and as a member of the team, help to resolve issues. Coordinate with Tiber/Ponce Health Sciences University staff to monitor student progress and identify students below expected standards. Update program director on a weekly basis with student performance data.

Required Skills
• Basic level of technical hardware and software knowledge with troubleshooting capability.
• Prior experience with educational software platforms, such as Moodle or Canvas LMS preferred.
• Experienced in computer software programs including: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Zoom, Gmail, Calendly, I-Clicker, Complete Anatomy, and Examplify (ExamSoft) is preferred.

Required Experience
• Preferred experience in education, especially problem-based learning.
• Clinical experience not required, but preferred.

Required Education

A degree in a science discipline is required. Prefer an advanced degree in the health sciences.

Additional Information

Flexible hours per week and evening and weekend hours may be required. Vacations must be planned around the academic calendar.
