Department Overview

The Neuroscience Center is a 26 bed unit, located on the 5th Floor of our Saint Paul Campus. On this unit we care for a wide spectrum of children, ranging from infants to young adults, requiring treatment and management for both acute and chronic conditions from our dedicated care givers for epilepsy/seizure disorders within our Level IV Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, post-operative neurosurgery care, general medical/surgical care, along with children in acute behavioral health crisis. Our patients have an average length of stay ranging from overnight to several weeks for specialty treatment and care. Patients on the Neuroscience Center are cared for by a cohesive group of inter-disciplinary teams that include child life, social work, epileptologists, neurosurgeons, integrative medicine, dietitians, case managers and other specialists. Our team prides ourselves on teamwork, quality care, open and respectful communication, and promotes a culture of safety while also encouraging learning and professional growth. Position Summary

This individual has overall responsibility for ensuring that services and programs provided through their patient care service area is child and family focused, clinically appropriate, operationally efficient, and achieves effective patient outcomes. The focus of time will be spent developing and providing direction for delivery of care and nursing practice including financial and administrative management as well as quality leadership and improvement. The manager will monitor and support the skills and involvement of staff associated with the service and will cause such skills and involvement to be increased or expanded as appropriate to meet current and future needs. They will also assure that Children's core values are implemented and a culture of excellence in care and service is developed.

Qualifications
Minnesota RN license. Master's Degree in Nursing preferred. Current BLS Certification. Progressive management/leadership experience at the system level. Knowledge of Health care as process/system. Has knowledge, methods and skills needed to effectuate change, to understand and value the perspectives and responsibilities of others, and the capacity to mentor others.
Has experience with designing care delivery and service excellence strategies.
