The Welcoming Center Coordinator is responsible for performing professional casework duties and provide self-sufficiency evaluation for individuals and/or families experiencing an immediate need for help with housing and utilizes. Utilities may consist of light, heat, gas and internet.
Examples of Essential Functions include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Participate in all required orientation and trainings.
• Participate in both internal and external Welcoming Center and All Chicago activities.
• Provide needs assessment on new customers, schedules customer appointments, landlord appointments and generates closure letters along with creating and maintaining customer files in an orderly fashion.
• Provide follow through with client and landlord on needed paper work along with providing resources to customers in immediate need.
• Identify areas of potential risk to self-sufficiency including child safety, substance abuse, health issues, etc.; provides case management to coordinate transitional, temporary or long-term services from the continuum of services offered through DHS as well as Welcoming Center community partners, and ALL Chicago; provide case management to coordinate the activities of the case when multiple service providers are involved.
• Complete work assignments involving practical application of a professional discipline, including research, data collection, and analysis and report preparation.
• Refer customers to appropriate DHS/community service providers and provide case management until customer meets their goals.
• Understand the emotional, environmental and psychological problems confronting individuals that are facing crisis, able to relate to people of all ethnic background
• Recognize and identify treatment for risk indicators and establish model approaches for problem solving.
• Enter Data into Open Portal and follow up with All Chicago on outcome, relay information to client and landlord
• Provide monthly reports of data served to ALL Chicago
• Participate in outreach activities to recruit customers

Qualifications - To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and Experience –* Required: High School Diploma or Associates degree with at least 3 years of experience working with families in crisis .Preferred: * Bachelor's Degree in psychology, sociology/anthropology, social welfare or related field plus one year of professional casework or crisis intervention experience in a social service agency. Computer knowledge of entering information into data base
Language Skills - Bilingual is preferred.
