Summary

As the Senior Industrial Engineer within our Utilimaster division based in Bristol, IN or Plymouth, MI, you will be responsible for designing and optimizing complex manufacturing systems and processes to improve productivity, efficiency, and quality at the plant while simultaneously reducing costs.

Your primary accountability as the Senior Industrial Engineer will be to streamline operations and maximize the overall performance within the plant. Relocation assistance is available to the Bristol, IN area
for non-local candidates.

• Identifying areas for improvement through assessing existing systems, processes, and workflows
• Developing and implementing new systems and processes to enhance productivity, efficiency, and quality
• Examining data, conducting time and motion studies, and performing value stream mapping
• Optimizing processes by identifying bottlenecks, eliminating waste, and improving workflows
• Driving operational excellence through utilizing lean tools and techniques, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies
• Evaluating labor requirements and deducing the most efficient allocation of resources
• Developing staffing plans, defining job roles and responsibilities, and creating work schedules
• Providing valuable input into the production planning process by examining production requirements, capacity constraints, and resource availability
• Developing production schedules, setting targets, and monitoring progress to ensure timely delivery
• Driving product and service quality assurance and developing metrics for measuring performance
• Designing and implementing quality control systems, performing statistical analysis and simulation modeling, and optimizing algorithms to identify trends and solve problems
• Optimizing supply chains by evaluating inventory levels, demand patterns, and supplier performance
• Improving supply chain efficiency, reducing lead times, and implementing a JIT inventory management strategy
• Discovering cost-saving opportunities through conducting cost-benefit analyses of manufacturing operations, processes, and systems, and recommending cost-effective solutions
• Driving projects related to ergonomics and safety, including designing workstations and layout facilities
• Developing safety protocols to minimize accident risk, injuries, and health issues
• Formulating recommendations by examining, interpreting, and visualizing data
• Driving project management activities through developing project plans, monitoring progress, coordinating resources, and ensuring successful project execution within defined timelines and budgets

Qualifications
• A bachelor's degree in industrial engineering or a related engineering discipline
• 7+ years of engineering expertise within a manufacturing environment (automotive preferred)
• Advanced knowledge of lean manufacturing and engineering concepts, including mathematics, statistics, operations research, and production systems
• Hands-on experience with building small prototypes
• Familiarity with analytical tools, workflow time studies, and process balancing
• Experience with industrial engineering tools and applications such as CAD software, statistical analysis software, simulation and project management tools, and database management systems
• Skilled in manufacturing optimization, quality control, and process improvement methodologies
• Robust communication skills to effectively convey ideas, present findings, and collaborate with colleagues
• A history of successfully executing projects through planning, organizing, and coordinating resources
• Awareness of health and safety regulations and best practices within manufacturing
• A deep understanding of ergonomics and safety concepts to design work environments that minimize risks and promote employee well-being
• Completed Certification(s) and/or master's degree preferred - Certified Industrial Engineer (CIE), Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt, Lean Manufacturing, or Project Management Professional (PMP)
• Ability to travel up to 50%, mostly between our Bristol and Plymouth facilities
