Are you an ambitious sales professional with a passion for mechanical engineering and a drive to succeed?

Timken is seeking a Sales Engineer to join our team and help us grow and protect business by using commercial and technical skills to recognize customer needs and apply Timken capabilities and technology across our full portfolio of products and services.

As a Sales Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining effective customer relationships, identifying sales opportunities, and participating in customer negotiations. You will be mentored and guided by your manager, and will be expected to develop strong sales leadership skills in influencing and driving results.

The ideal candidate will have a Diploma Mechanical engineering or a 4-year degree in mechanical engineering (or a related field) with relevant sales experience, be fluent in business English, and have 3-5 years of sales experience in industrial sales. Additionally, we are looking for candidates with technical aptitude, distributor management experience, and project/contract management experience.

This position will be based in our sales office in Accra, Ghana (West Africa)

Key Responsibilities (not Limited)
• Achieving sales targets for assigned accounts
• Developing and implementing customer-based sales plans
• Building and strengthening relationships with customers at all levels
• Generating a strong Timken presence in the territory
• Strengthen our relationships with customers at all level of the organization, facilitating customer interaction and coordinating with Marketing, Customer Service, Customer Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and other functional areas.
• Through an understanding of customer drivers, builds ability to influence customer decisions pertaining to new solutions, products and prototype applications. Builds sales competencies in discovering hidden customer needs, representing customer needs, handling objections, etc.
• Understand competition threats within the region and develop tactics to assure that Timken strengths are used to maintain and grow sales. Conducts industry or technology research to identify trends. Evaluates competitors products and selling/market strategy.

Key Requirements
• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (with at least 4 year experience) or 4-year degree in mechanical engineering (or related field such as electrical or mechatronics) with 2 year's sales experience
• Fluent in business English
• 2-5 years of sales experience in industrial sales
• Technical aptitude and ability to read mechanical engineering drawings
• Distributor management experience
• Project/contract management experience
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Ability to travel 50-70% of the time
• MS office proficiency
• CRM / Salesforce experience will be an advantage
